Most of us
do not understand the creative power of our thoughts. The fact is that all our
thoughts get translated into matter, literally becoming things. An
ancient parable explains this concept very well.
Once
upon a time a traveler sat under a tree, and went off to sleep. This tree happened to be a kalpataru; a mythological,
wish-fulfilling, divine tree. The traveler didn’t know that this tree fulfills
desires immediately. After a long sleep, he woke up and realized that he was
very hungry. He said, “I wish I could get some food to eat.” Immediately pots
of delicious food appeared out of thin air. The man ate heartily and said, “Now
all I need is a glass of water.” Within seconds a pitcher of cool water materialized.
The man quenched his thirst and relaxed. Suddenly it occurred to him, “Where
has all this food and water come from? Are ghosts playing a trick on me?” The
moment he thought about ghosts, ferocious ghosts appeared. The man started
trembling and thought; “Now I will be killed.” And sure enough he was
killed.
Our mind too is like
this wish-fulfilling tree. Luckily for us all our thoughts do not materialize
immediately. But whatever we think does materialize sooner or later. The truth
is that like a spider, each one of us is caught in a web of our own making. We may understand this concept intellectually,
but don’t always use its power in our daily life. However, this process works
in everyone’s life; unconsciously and automatically. If we don’t choose our
thoughts, we create by default, because whatever we pay attention to gets
created.
2,500 years
ago, Buddha had said, ‘We are what we think. All that we are arises with our
thoughts. With our thoughts, we make our world.’
My god-loving
mother has her own way of making this point. She tells us that God knows only
one word, and that word is 'Tathastu'
or 'Amen'; in other words, 'so be it'. According to her, our thoughts are our
constant, unconscious prayers to God. Whatever we think or say to our inner
God, He utters 'Tathastu' in response. Thus our thoughts get materialized by Divine
willpower. Now science has corroborated her simplistic theory by proving that
our thoughts do possess an inherent creative power.
Mother
Teresa had once remarked, “More tears are
shed over answered prayers than unanswered ones." The fact is that ALL
our thoughts are prayers and all of them get answered. We choose our creations
as we choose our thoughts.
This doesn’t mean that the moment you think of a house,
it will be created, but your thought will definitely move the entire process of
building a house into being. Your
subconscious mind will pick up the signal and create conditions that resonate
with your inner state of mind.
